The Trump administration is in favor of weakening the laws which are aimed at maintaining a level playing field for companies on the internet, and they're about to do it.

FCC Chairman Ajit Pai announced that the FCC will vote to remove net neutrality laws on December 14th, and unfortunately, They have enough votes.

This measure will allow for internet service providers to throttle bandwidth as they see fit.

They will no longer have to guarantee fair access to the internet.

They should have dismissed this immediately, but they did.

The Democratic chairwoman on her way out dismissed that petition saying that there was no basis for doing that and quoting the previous Republican commissioner, chair FCC, chair Ajit Pai, who'd said it just wasn't the government's job to decide about the fairness of media.

That is the right answer.

And Brendan Carr basically now is having it both ways.

It was an entire boogeyman of the left that they used the entire Obama era.

In comes Ajit Pai, uh, during the first Trump administration.

By the way, he got, like, death threats- Oh, yeah ... over ending net neutrality.

Yeah.

It's insane.

Like, and-

And it's, it's why Ajit Pai is a hero for standing up for th- uh, to these people.

And the stuff that you get is lower in quality and poorer in performance.

So each state went state by state after Ajit Pai was stupid enough to roll back the Tom Wheeler FCC decisions on net neutrality.

And this is a basic one.

This is a very basic litmus test if you understand tech and politics at all.

That is the weaselliest little weasel.

They managed to find someone even more cartoonishly, mustache-twirlingly, melodramatically evil than Ajit Pai.

Ajit Pai was a goofy clown who was there just to take abuse.

Brendan Carr is like, I'm trying to be evil.

He's like Dr.

Christ.

Robert Corn Revere, chief counsel at the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, referenced a stark difference in the FCC leaderships specifically.

After Trump suggested broadcasters license should be challenged over fake news in 2017, for example, then FCC chairman Ajit Pai said the agency does not have the authority to revoke a license of a broadcast station based on the content of a particular newscast.

By contrast, current FCC chair Brendan Carr responded to Trump's Truth Social Post criticizing news coverage of the United States' war against Iran in March by saying, "...broadcasters running hoaxes and news distortions, also known as fake news, have a chance now to correct course before their license renewals come up." Disney and ABC's lawsuit also noted the timing of the FCC's early license renewal order, which came one day after Trump called for Jimmy Kimmel to be fired after saying First Lady Melania Trump had a glow like an expectant widow.
