Air Niugini

It's a frustration for us as well.

Papua New Guinea's government runs a lot of key services for the country, like PNG Power, which runs the electricity grid, PNG Water, overseeing water services, Air New Guinea, the national airline, just to name a few.

They're known as state-owned enterprises, a business entity created or owned by the country's government.

All of these provide important services, but P&G Power has often been in the spotlight because of the constant blackouts and the chaos it creates.

We had a pretty good episode, if I do say so myself, last week.

You put out a reel about Air New Guinea.

That got quite a lot of attention.

That got quite a lot of engagement.

First thing I want to say is shout out to my mate, Matt.

He actually shared his experience flying Air New Guinea from Hong Kong to Brisbane.

He showed me the interior of the 767 that he flew from Hong Kong down to Port Moresby and then Port Moresby down to Brisbane.

it looked pretty ancient inside.

Right.

Air Niugini.

Yep.

"Fly Sydney to Tokyo for $648 one way." Obviously, terms and conditions apply.

Now, this is not an ad for Air Niugini, because I saw this, and my first thought wasn't, "Far out, that's cheap to get to Tokyo one way."

Mm.

My first thought was, "Air Niugini?"

[laughs] Yeah.

For the first time in 28 years, you will be able to fly Auckland Port Moresby direct from November.

Air New Guinea is taking flight with that service.

Thailand, Jack, this is very cool because Thailand is such a fan favourite destination for Kiwis.

And for the first time since COVID, Thai Airways is resuming its services from Auckland to Bangkok in March.
