He served in the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard flying 175 combat missions in Southeast Asia and earning six Distinguished Flying Crosses and 11 Air Medals.

He later held senior roles with Booz Allen, Hamilton, General Dynamics, and other national level initiatives.

Through Jobonomics, he has focused on creating startup businesses and economic opportunities in under-resourced communities.

And in fact, I've really started to think about this more clearly as I wrote the book, that it really was, I think, what drove me into journalism, which is a career of asking the same question over and over again: Why? And I have a greater appreciation for him after gathering those records and those documents and speaking with my family to understand that he was somebody who was extraordinarily brave, um, fighting in over 300 combat missions over Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War, in often harrowing circumstances in combat, and was highly decorated, receiving two Distinguished Flying Crosses, more than 13...

excuse me, 15 Air Medals.

Um, so I learned a lot about him in the process of reporting the book, and have a greater appreciation, um, and admiration for him.

We began our conversation hearing from both your mom and your dad, who very sweetly exchanged audio tapes back and forth while he was fighting in the Vietnam War.

He was evacuated on June 9th just before a German bomb struck the site, killing 11 people and injuring 15.

Lieutenant Colonel Michael C. "Mike" Murphy earned a Purple Heart, the Legion of Merit, and Air Medals for his actions in World War II.

And now, to the other Lieutenant Colonel Michael Murphy, Michael C. Murphy.

There is not a lot of information about this brave soldier.

Yeager, who was not a man who handed out compliments casually, said she was one of the finest natural pilots he had ever flown with.

She received the Distinguished Service Medal, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal, the Harmon Trophy.

Awarded to the world's outstanding aviator year after year, the French Legion of Honor.

More citations from more organizations in more countries than most pilots accumulate across several lifetimes.

Dr. Rogers received his solo certificate in helicopters and was able to pilot flights in Huey and Cobra and Kiowa helicopters.

And to honor his US Air Force medical service, Dr. Rogers received this US Air Medal created in 1942 during World War II, plus a Humanitarian Service Medal and a Meritorious Service Medal.

And now Dr. Rogers has written a book about to be published by UNX and available soon at amazon.com entitled, We Got It From Them.

The them, he says, are linked to UFO non-human craft that we have been trying to reverse engineer since 1992.

He flew 23 more combat missions before the war ended.

58 total, distinguished flying cross, three air medals.

He was 21 years old when it was over.

44 years later, he raised his right hand and took the oath of office as the 41st President of the United States.

As I said, pretty excited about this.

I just finished reading your book last night, Sharks and Daisies, and at the end of your book you have the citation for your Coast Guard Air Medal.

I'm gonna read that really quickly just so our listeners get an idea of what a Coast Guard rescue swimmer does.
