Air Materiel Command

One being the Twining memo that happened in September of 1947.

This is a famous declassified memo from General Nathan Twining, who was the head of the Air Material Command.

He officially stated, "The phenomenon reported is something real and not visionary or fictitious." It then went on to talk about the object showed extreme rates of climb and maneuverability, which matches the baseline intelligence that Ruppelt claimed triggered the estimate.

So it never, the Twining memo never really goes out to just straight up say the estimate is real.

And the goal of it was to collect, evaluate, and distribute within the government only all information relating to UFO sightings based on the premise that they might represent a national security concern.

Then we finally get to the place that it's always mentioned when we talk about UFOs and the '40s and the '50s, so here we go.

One that I've already kind of briefly mentioned just as, you know, in passing, but on April 27th, 1949, the US Air Force publicly released, that's right, publicly released a paper by Project Sign prepared by the Intelligence Division of the Air Material Command at Wright-Patterson Field in Ohio.

Gasp.

He also served various positions during World War II.

From 1946 to 1947, he served as deputy surgeon and chief industrial medicine, Air Material Command at Wright Field.

He also spent time at Aviation Medicine at Randolph Field in Texas, a military base that appears on the list for a 1947 air accident report dealing with a collision between an aircraft and an un- unidentified object.

So 48 hours before Kennedy was shot, Kennedy was to meet this man, who was in a perfect position to see bodies brought in to Wright during 1947.

I looked at the title on the report.

A Digest of Preliminary Studies by the Air Materiel Command, Wright Field, Dayton, Ohio, on Flying Saucers.

Have the papers caught it yet? I asked Purdy.

You mean it's contradicting the Post? He shook his head.

On July fourth, the Air Force stated that no further investigation was needed.

It was all hallucination.

That same day, Wright Field told the Associated Press that the Air Materiel Command was trying to find the answer.

The fourth of July was a red-letter day in the flying saucer mystery.
