This is the story of Air Inter flight 148.

It was a cold January evening in 1992 at Lyon's airport in Southeast France.

90 passengers boarded a three-year-old Airbus A320 operated by the French airline Air Inter.

They were bound for Strasbourg in the northeast, just an hour's flying time away.

Also on board were four cabin crew and two pilots.

This was the crew's third flight of the day.

In 1992, the Airbus A320 was truly a state-of-the-art aircraft, quite literally decades ahead of the competition.
