Ireland left the Eurovision Song Contest, Paddington left the UK or wanted to, and everyone left the Ed Sheeran Tour.

Hopefully staying the course here, though, are my guests this week, the comedians Ahir Shah and Simon Brodkin, author Elly Griffiths, and there'll be music from Cara Dillon and Truth Paste.

Now, apparently, meteorological autumn started on the first of September, but according to the astronomical calendar, it starts on the twenty-third, which means we're not actually into it yet.

Are we-- Are you like autumn guy in Friends, or are you like in Game of Thrones, winter is coming and that's terrible? Do you embrace the coming of autumn, Ahir?

[laughing] It was third time lucky for comedian Ahir Shah, who was nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award in two thousand and seventeen and two thousand and eighteen, and then won it in two thousand and twenty-three for his show Ends, telling the story of the sacrifices his grandfather made for his family.

Since then, he's had his own Radio 4 series, Ahir Shah's Seven Blunders of the World, exploring Mahatma Gandhi's seven social sins.
