Agent Oscar Wallace

that and I thought too right yeah is this how Jim Malone and Elliot Ness first met

Unfortunately, despite winning an Oscar for this performance, Sean Connery's Malone, or the storyline that his character undergoes, doesn't particularly mirror that of any of Ness's team in real life.

I knew you were going to say that.

But that

Yeah.

So he took over a large portion of the Lexington Hotel for, I think, about four or five years.

Talk about the kind of recruitment that's going on here, because the first person that is recruited after Malone is the nerdy member of the group, Oscar Wallace, who's come direct from Washington.

Yeah.

It's an accountant.

Oscar Wallace, Charles Martin Smith, who sits with the ledgers and works out that Capone hasn't filed a tax return in four years.

The man who ran Chicago, and they get him on his tax return, and that part is true.

In October 1931, Al Capone was convicted of income tax evasion and sentenced to 11 years.

Stubbornness does the same thing louder.

Persistence keeps the aim and changes the method- And it costs him.

He loses people along the way, Wallace, and then Malone himself, and by the end, he's carrying on for them as much as for himself.

The Stoics would have understood Ness completely because they talked about persistence in the language of the fight.
