Agabus

Because sometimes we get it wrong.

In the New Testament, Agabus gives a prophecy over Paul.

And in the prophecy, he says this, he goes, he says that Paul was gonna be bound and delivered to the Gentiles.

However, he was bound by the Gentiles and delivered to the Jews.

Now this man had four virgin daughters who prophesied.

And as we stayed many days, a certain prophet named Agabus came down from Judea.

And when he had come to us, he took Paul's belt, bound his own hands and feet, and said, now listen, he says, thus says the Holy Spirit, so shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man who owns this belt and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.

Now when we heard these things, both we and those from that place, notice, pleaded with him, pleaded with Paul, not to go up to Jerusalem.

There's going to be difficulties.

Things are going to happen to you there in Jerusalem.

Agabus, this prophet, even takes Paul's own belt and binds his own hands and feet and says, let me illustrate to you what's going to happen.

The Lord has told me you're going to get arrested here.

right now.

Agabus was a, Silas is a prophet, but we don't have any prophecies from Silas.

Agabus was a prophet.

We have two prophecies from Agabus, the drought, the famine in Jerusalem.

He, he prophesied about, foretold about, and it came to pass.

And, uh, when he took Paul's belt and put it around him and talked about how Paul's gonna be persecuted when he goes, if he continues to go to Jerusalem.

First of all, Acts chapter 21, verses 10 to 12.

And as we stayed many days, a certain prophet named Agabus came down from Judea.

When he had come to us, he took Paul's belt, bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus says the Holy Spirit, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man who owns this belt and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.

Now when we heard these things, both we and those from that place pleaded with him not to go up to Jerusalem.

There is prophecy.

Agabus predicts a famine.

Philip's four daughters prophesy.

All these things are real.

But let's go to the New Testament prophets.

What about Agabus? Agabus is in the New Testament, people.

He was the one that foretold of a severe global famine during the reign of Claudia Caesar, and later warned Paul about the up-and-coming imprisonment using a physical sign about his girdle.

That's right.

So there's the New Testament prophet Agabus.

Then we have John the Baptist.
