AFL Women's Grand Final

thing.

All of the videos, the roundups are best of, you know, AFLW Grand Final on YouTube, released by the AFL channel.

It's got like 167 views or whatever.

Yeah.

And that's about the AFLW.

Well, it's about the establishment of the AFLW, and that came about because I was taken by a girlfriend to see the inaugural AFLW Grand Final nearly 10 years ago now, in 2017.

Oh, wow.

And you know, I grew up in Melbourne with a big Catholic family of absolute diehard Swan supporters.

It wasn't fair.

It wasn't fair, but I actually just d- never even thought there would ever be a f- a, a female league.

But you know, and I just remember when I went to the AFLW Grand Final, and you know, I've actually grown up with football all around me, so I know the rules.

I know how it works.

Exceptional call.

With this plan, the AFLW Grand Final would be played within two weeks of the Men's Grand Final.

Great.

I think that's really good news.

The AFL is considering another shift to the start of the AFLW season, bringing it forward to June.

More double headers, particularly at Marvel Stadium, in the first two rounds across two weeks.

With this plan, the AFLW Grand Final would be played within two weeks of the Men's Grand Final.

So-

Um, a conversation's sort of been going on over the last couple years really.

Um, I think grand final, AFLW grand final needs to be at Marvel Stadium.

Mm.

And have it at Marvel every year.

The genius of this work is, I mean, there's so many different ways you can think about it and talk about it.

I mean, when I first spoke to Suze about it, she was at that AFL Grand Final, AFLW Grand Final in 2017.

So she watched that and that was when the idea first hit her and she started going, oh, this is unbelievable.

Like we need to know how we got to this point.

And then Melbourne v North.

It could very well be a precursor to this year's AFLW Grand Final.

You know North are going to hit back hard.

Kate Hoare and her Melbourne teammates are in a ripping nick at the moment.
