Afghanistan Freedom Front

Although the situation along the border has calmed down, that does not mean it will remain peaceful.

Badakhshan continues to host two major anti-Taliban resistance groups, the National Resistance Front, led by Ahmad Massoud, son of the Lion of Panjshir, and the Afghanistan Freedom Front, which brings together former commanders of the Afghan Republican Army and operates in the Zabak area of Badakhshan.

Both groups could contribute to renewed unrest.

Remnants of the Islamic State of the Khorasan Province and the anti-Chinese East Turkestan Islamic Movement also remain active in northern Afghanistan.

Um, you know, you have, uh, I mean, it's not 10, 15 groups.

I'd say there's like three main ones, uh, Ahmad Massoud's, uh, National Resistance Front, Yasin Ziya's Afghan Freedom Front, and Sami Sadat's Afghan United Front.

Those are, I think, the big three.

Their problem is, one, they don't have sanctuary, two, they don't have official state sponsorship, and three, that they can't unify under one banner.
