AEW Rampage

Do they actually mean anything to the canon of the show most of the time, or to whatever pay-per-view we're building up to? Usually no.

It's a step above Rampage, and it's still better than like the wrestling that we would've grown up on in the '80s that we could've seen in the mor- on Saturday mornings.

Like, you're seeing a much better wrestling and storytelling, at least two name stars usually wrestling each other, unlike, you know, when you've seen Iron Mike Sharp lose to name star wrestler in the '80s on WWF Challenge or Superstars.

But yeah, as far as like, it's a fun ...

Uh, Collision is on the don't really look forward to at all curve, but if we're gonna do a worse or better on Collision, uh, we should probably take a look at its historical significance.

Mm-hmm.

Uh, as we said, there's very little history to speak of, but like [laughs] you said, at least it's not Rampage.

Rampage.

So a couple weeks ago, I joined Wade and the new All Perspective reporter for SmackDown, Alex McDonald, in sort of a roundtable format to discuss that night's show.

And then last Friday, I was on the AEW Rampage post show with Tyler Sage, the fourth AEW Rampage post show.

It's a VIP exclusive, so another reason you should go VIP.

And we discussed Rampage, which was probably – you know the second show with Punk debuting was going to be the most memorable I think that this last one we watched was probably the one that's going to be more in line with the spirit of what the show is going to be into the future so we discussed that show made some all out predictions which I think we all we got right we didn't discuss Paul White versus QT Marshall so I don't know about that match but that's what I've been doing and I do the all perspective reports for Raw as Wade says you might also see me do some news reports for The Torch along with Zach Cator and Sean Radican and some others so That's me.

Looks like a fun card.

Haven't been to an AEW show since Sting's retirement.

And weirdly enough, I guess it'll be Sting's son's television debut.

So that feels like a nice bit of serendipity for me.

That works out really well.

Very full circle.

Yeah, I mean, my first ever show was main evented by Sting and Hulk Hogan in a cage.

So, you know, the Bordens, they really know how to get me out for TNT affiliated wrestling properties.

You had Statlander come in to make the save.

And you set up a six-woman tag, I think, for Rampage on Friday.

So probably they're taping that six-woman tag right now as we speak.

So a lot to like there in the angle.

I think you're also going to get to see kind of what Pillman has, what he can bring to the table.

I thought he showed something tonight, but Eric, we'll see.

Yeah, I mean, they're going to give him – they're going to give Pillman a match on Friday at Rampage, a singles match versus Max Caster.

So Max will pay his penance by doing a presumably clean job on national television to Pillman.

So that should be good.

And then on Friday, uh, and every Friday you can listen to the VIP exclusive, uh, AEW or sorry, PW torch, AEW rampage post-show, uh, lots of words there.

And, um, This week I have Javier from the New Japan Strong podcast will be joining me to talk.

So I don't know if he's going to be able to simultaneously call in to the SmackDown post show and do both.

Obviously, the promos and the videos were good.

But I guess I was thinking more in line of overall that with Punk, Becky, Brock all back, SummerSlam, Rampage premiering, it really feels like the pay-per-view is kind of, I don't know, underwhelming, I guess is the way I would put it.

You know, especially since AEW only has four of them.

It seems like, you know, the pay-per-view itself kind of got lost in the shuffle.

And was CM Punk's shirt the most worn thing that you saw there? Or what was kind of like the merchandise that people were buying? Yeah,

you know, yes.

I couldn't remember if you do Rampage.

I think it's maybe VIPs only for Rampage call-in, but I was taking really careful notes at Rampage, and I was counting.

It's been like five years at this point.

And then as soon as the match happened, I put out that My Sacrifice video, AEW Rampage.

Yeah.

And I was going to keep doing it.

CM Punk on Dynamite for the first time since his debut with the company last week.

Rampage, a big show, big numbers, big moment.

You know, tonight he's in the ring.

He gets another... really solid, loud reaction.

I think you saw a genuine response from Punk.

He's in there with Tony Schiavone, the classic kind of dynamite interview.

But the question is, being past now that initial appearance, that initial return, the emotion of that moment on Friday night on Rampage, I'm curious as to your take on the follow-up.
