ACOGs had existed since the late 80s, but because there were no real wars going on, everyone was still training Vietnam kind of tactics.

There was no reason to improve the equipment or gear.

In the 90s, you were also coming out of the Clinton budget cuts in the military, so there was no money to be spent on training or equipment either.

If you're not familiar with Trijicon, like their ACOG, their military application, SCOPE, Advanced Combat Optical Gun Sight, if I remember from my time in Iraq when it was first getting introduced in my second tour over there, I believe that's what that acronym stands for, Advanced Combat Optical Gun Sight.

They made those for our M16s are a good robust sight, and part of the thing that makes those robust is that they don't take batteries.

They run off tritium, which is a radioactive isotope, and they run off ambient light.

Recoil would fucking kill the shot.

Trijicon RMRs, remember, were supposed to be piggyback on an ACOG on a heavier rifle, not on a hand reciprocating slide.

But all it takes to move so fast now, they're solid as a rock.

They really are.

That said, there are s- real advantages to good optical sights.

Now, other than what I was issued in the military, and I should say was one of the early adopters before everybody got them in Iraq of the ACOG.

And so I got to run, I got to go to war twice, once with just irons and once with irons and an ACOG.

Good ACOG, fixed power, very rugged, very robust.

I really like that optic or something like it where it doesn't take batteries.

They're definitely war-proven.

So I'm thinking I might go with the PLX-C RDB or ACOG.
