I think that's maybe a little bit unfair on Alan Burrows.

I come back to probably what I posited last week in that, you know, was Alan subject to a full interview process, a full recruitment process at that point? Did we test the market or was it simply a hire based on experience? somebody that got on well with Dave and I'm not sure that that's the way we should be making these senior recruitment decisions with regards to the differences that might happen now with Adrian Bevington in place I think obviously initially what you'll see is a big media burst we've You had the press conference late last week, and I dare say there'll be interviews with all and sundry who wish to pursue that path over the course of the next couple of months as he gets his feet under the table.

So expect to see him... answering exactly the same questions in exactly the same way on lots and lots of different platforms over the next couple of months and basically telling us very little, I would really imagine.

I think it's going to be very difficult to answer Jeff's questions, very difficult to identify substantial change, because we're not going to see that a lot of that's going to be internal.

And Tom Glover, formerly of Tottenham Hotspur as well, has moved to Mercury 13 as commercial director.

And longtime football comms man Adrian Bevington is the new CEO of Aberdeen.

And I have to say Adrian Bevington is rooted to the bottom of my FPL league that I'm in with him.

So, of course, no one likes to see him necessarily move on.

But if you're going to replace him, you know, to go and get someone of the calibre of Adrian Bevington, someone I've known for a long, long time, who's got magnificent contacts in football too.

And obviously you've got looks at the football club behind the scenes working now.

So there's a lot of movement behind the scenes, but I don't know, in the face of it, Adrian just looks like a really shrewd appointment, Michael.

Yeah.

It's felt like a club that have had a lot of competent people there, but it doesn't feel like there's been a great degree of synergy.

So for Adrian Bevington, that I would imagine will be one of his main tasks, that he will see that, yes, a lot of good people, even you look at the squad, if you look at the team and then you look at the club, The two aspects of it are very similar.

A lot of good players in there trying to pull it all together.

so Tuesday that win at Motherwell that welcome win that fantastic win at Motherwell came in the wake of ex-Motherwell CEO stepping down as Aberdeen CEO Wednesday Adrian Bevington was announced as the new Aberdeen CEO so English FA, amongst numerous other roles, which can be perused by reading his quite probably self-written Wikipedia page.

I mean, if we're being honest about this, look, we won the Scottish Cup while he was doing the job.

But the outward facing stuff to supporters has obviously got a completely different tenet aspect to it in football as it does in any other industry or most other industries and the key thing at Aberdeen is you've got to manage Dave because that's someone who is it probably won't come as a surprise to anybody but has been described to me as someone who's very very difficult to work for in that he is constantly constantly kind of on top of stuff and on top of you

top of me what did i do um uh the first of all yes the the the chief executive role is more about the uh operational side of aberdeen and it is broader than just the football operations but that role does ultimately have uh oversight of everything and i know i've seen some uh discussion kind of post Burrows and now with Bevington in the position about how these aren't necessarily mutually exclusive concepts is that you don't have to have a situation where you focus on you know the commercial side or what you're doing with you know community engagement and again I think a lot of those things he actually over the piece when you look back had been very successful at but the sporting operation does come under your remit as well and I certainly wouldn't give him a complete pass in that regard because I think the longest enduring thing that will be left with us is the fact that I don't think it would come as a surprise to anyone that it is likely Alan Burrows, who has pulled the trigger on two months of looking for a replacement manager for Yubi Tulene, which was essentially an overrule of Lutz's role as a sporting director to get his preferred manager on board.

So I don't want to get, again, there's maybe no point in speculating because we're past that situation now, but I do find it was interesting that you had Burrows leaving, Bevington coming on board and at the time those machinations were taking place I'm assuming that was a time that Aberdeen were still struggling and I wonder in a world where Stephen Robinson hasn't turned it around and got three good results in the bag because again obviously Adrian Bevington's media bits for the red final was all then about how you know he's had a really good discussion with robinson and the staff in the club and he's there to support him and get all ever successes in place but i do i do i do wonder in the back of my mind whether there was a very different discussion Or at least planning going on if things hadn't gone the way that they had hoped.

But again, that will probably rightly be speculation for now on.

Well I mean it's funny because you were listening to Adrian Bevington's Red TV interview about a need for everything to be in sync across the club as far as the first team goes and How we build towards that.

Classic Aberdeen to panic by a winger in Hisham Mahou and then move to a formation where we don't need wingers.

Can't really blame the manager as such.

Obviously, we got a little bit of a flavour that was happening a couple of hours before the announcement came out that that was the case.

Perhaps the bigger surprise, though, was the fact that we... moved as swiftly as we did because this morning, Wednesday morning we've got a new CEO in place already with the appointment of Adrian Bevington to the role an experienced operator with 17 years at the English FA spells at Middlesbrough also as a consultant in an advisory capacity at Nottingham Forest where he was offered the permanent CEO role spell at Aston Villa time advising the Welsh FA I mean, we almost look like a functioning professional outfit by jettisoning someone and having a replacement lined up the very next day.

What the fuck's going

on? I still expect to wake up and be met with a harsh reality.

Yeah, or just don't do it at all.

Yeah, no, certainly it's one of these, like whenever you look at somebody coming at this sort of role, yeah, it looks like he's got a lot of experience in kind of like very senior levels of football at some big clubs and those consultancy roles, obviously part of the English FA for a while as well.

So it comes in with a good track record, the club and Bevington themselves being very pointed about the fact that he and his wife will be relocating to the northeast of Scotland, which felt like it was perhaps slightly unnecessary, but... maybe just putting to bed rumour and innuendo before somebody has to take to Twitter to denounce anything that may or may not be going on at any given time.

But yeah, I think on the face of it, it looks like it could be a relatively steady appointment, with the exception of the fact that I am a little bit wary of the fact that he was also introduced as being somebody that Dave Cormack's known for a while.
