In February 2014, charges were filed against 6 municipal employees and 4 employees of the Lopavent, the company created by Rainer Schaller to organize the Love Parade.

The charges included murder, personal injuries and lack of security supervision.

Veranstalter ist Rainer Schaller, der millionenschwere Eigentümer der Fitnesskette McFit.

Er hatte sich die Rechte an der Love Parade gesichert als riesiges steuerlich absetzbares Marketinginstrument.

Im Februar 2014 wird Anklage erhoben gegen sechs Mitarbeiter der Stadt und vier Mitarbeiter von Lop event, der Firma, die Rainer Schaller für die Organisation der Love Parade aufgebaut hatte.

Die Vorwürfe: fahrlässige Tötung, Körperverletzung und Verstöße gegen die Aufsichtspflicht bei der Sicherheit.

Bis zur Katastrophe war Adolf Sauerland eigentlich ein relativ beliebter und einigermaßen erfolgreicher Oberbürgermeister von Duisburg.
