I don't even remember if we were using PageMaker.

I don't remember what we were doing.

It was right before everything got switched to a digital press too.

Fast forward a bit, my mom was at SAIT doing journalism, and she was also a writer, so I grew up with a daisy wheel clacking in the room next to mine early morning as she hit her deadlines.

She taught me Pagemaker, the original Altus Pagemaker back in the 80s, how to do page layout and design.

And I decided that I just wanted to pursue a life of art and expression and quickly learned that that wasn't going to pay the bills.

So I pivoted and became more of a commercial artist.

because it was going to just scoop up all of those Apple people and take them over to this nice new operating system that they didn't need the compatibility with the old software.

They just needed PageMaker, QuarkXPress, and Photoshop to run.

And so it was brutal.

Microsoft, it's like a pincer movement.

We... had a dark room and we learned how to take professional, or not professional, but how to take photos and then how to take that film and develop it and then print photos all in one spot.
