Administrative detention

Right.

So the Israeli practice of administrative detention, that's what it's called in Israel, but I would call it hostage taking because you're not bringing forward any charges.

You're abducting a person and based upon secret evidence, so the person being abducted is not able to know what crime they've committed, and that secret evidence that they're not allowed to see could be for a crime that they're going to commit in the future.

So the argument that a lawyer would present to the Israeli military judge in these Kafkaesque courts, which have 99.7% conviction rates, is that this Palestinian could commit a crime in the future, and that crime that they could commit in the future is based on secret evidence that the Palestinian is not able to see, and that's what they're being arrested for.
