Adina Howard

This is the first appearance of Freak Like Me on a Now album.

This was a garage version of Adina Howard's Freak Like Me.

Wow.

And the vocalist is Imani, who sung Eurovision for us.

So this song was an outgrowth of a trend that was big in the clubs and also in the then nascent music blog world.

in the late in the early 2000s um it was originally called the bootleg and people now know it as the mashup and so there were all of these djs who were putting together you know smells like teen spirit and bootylicious um another one really great one is um the clash is magnificent seven and romeo by basement jacks but um there was a dj who at the Gary Newman's Our Friends Electric and Adina Howard's Freak Like Me.

And a couple of years, you know, very shortly after, actually, the British girl band Sugar Babes, who were already in their second iteration, having lost member Siobhan Donaghy and gained Heidi Range, they decided to work with the girls on top, now known as Richard X, and they put out their own version of Freak Like Me, and it was called Freak Like Me.

I don't care what they say I'm not about to play

Uh, first up was One Twelve, uh, featuring Biggie Smalls and Only You from 1996.

Uh, and then Adina Howard and A Freak Like Me from 1997.

Now, as I mentioned earlier, uh, we sadly lost Freddie Jackson this week on Monday, um, aged, uh, just 70.

So sad.

We're going to slow things down, take our time as we search for peace of mind and pure relaxation.

This is Adina Howard and Lay Him Down.

I

ain't afraid to tell a man just what I want and what I need.

We're going to slow things down, take our time as we search for peace of mind and pure relaxation.

This is Adina Howard and Lay Him Down.

I

ain't afraid to tell a man just what I want and what I need.

We gonna slow things down, take our time, as we search for peace of mind and pure relaxation.

This is Adina Howard in Lay Him Down.

[singing] I ain't afraid to tell a man just what I want and what I need, what I need, what I need.

Even if he's short, even if he's wrong, as long as he's here to please.

We love it.

So the song is originally by American R&B star Adina Howard.

Great track.

oh it's one of my favorites such a good track she released it in 1995 on her album do you want to ride and it is mashed up with a song from 1979 called our friends electric by tubeway army and gary newman
