The early ideals had to do with how people think about things, not about, uh, how, how they implement code.

In 1977, the computer science lab devised a plan to invite the top 10 Xerox executives to the Palo Alto Research Center to learn about a components-based approach to developing software.

The Smalltalk group was asked to create a hands-on workshop in which these executives could personally experience this new approach to software architecture.

I created a modeling environment in the Smalltalk 76 system that provided the parts for discrete event-driven simulation.

Parts consisted of simulation framework, stations, workers, and jobs.

The library seen here in a browser constrained only to show the parts of the simulation that are appropriate to be changed.

For the workshop, we created a curriculum based on having the participants define Xerox relevant simulations.
