Adelaide Pre-Release Centre

Last week, we found out that their attempt to block parole had been rejected, which means Vlassakis, who is now in his mid-40s, is a free man.

The parole boss last week said he'd be moved from prison to the Adelaide Pre-Release Centre, where he will remain for 12 months, which is standard for every life sentence prisoner.

Flosarchus will transition through the Adelaide Pre-Release Centre, a process the Parole Board uses for life sentence prisoners to provide a period of adjustment before release into the community.

That sounds like a really good idea.

His parole conditions are expected to be stringent.

So I take it he's not out on parole as yet, but that's pending?

Yeah, my understanding, Graeme, is that he is, as of today, where he has been in jail, that typically when someone is eligible for parole, they spend some time, and I think it's sometimes up to a year, in the Adelaide Pre-Release Centre, which is run by the Department of Correctional Services.

Does it concern you that this case could set some form of precedent?

I think each case has taken on its merits, Graeme.
