And that's why Yaakov's role is not merely to compromise between these two opposites, but to integrate them.

Now, if we look at the Nisan to Adar cycle of the year, Nisan begins overwhelmingly with Hashem giving, redemptions coming from above.

Of course, that's when Pesach happens.

Hashem revealed himself.

He took us out of Egypt.

He gave us identity, carried us into freedom, and we had not earned any of it.

On the opposite end of the calendar is the month of Adar, and that is when Hashem always hides himself the most.

Because when he hides himself is what forces us to then become the giver.

I think we spoke about it probably in the second paragraph.

But bottom line is that the logical thing is that Purim should have been Yud, Dalet, Adar.

Period, full stop.

If you ask me to stretch to the 15th, because you know something happened, Shushan, and Miguel mentions, I can start to wrap my mind around it.

It's going to follow the week through.

If Purim comes out on Tuesday or Wednesday, the small villages read on Monday, the market day, and the big cities read on Tuesday or Wednesday, and the world cities read Wednesday or Thursday.

Now, if this is the case, what days of Adar are the small villages reading in these two scenarios? So if Purim is on Tuesday, when do the Kfarim read? What day of the month? Gimel.

This year is a leap year.

Also, it's a Shana Shlemya, which means that certain months we know can be 29 or 30 days.

So that's the way it works.

Adar, or at least the second Adar, is always a 29-day month.

When there's one, the Adar before Nisan.

Why? Because Rosh Chodesh Nisan is always one day.

You don't want to have two days Rosh Chodesh Nisan.

And it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded to the Jews, and to the local governors, and to the governors and princes of the provinces, which are from India to Ethiopia, 127 provinces, to every province according to its writing, and to every people in their language, and to the Jews in their writing and in their language." He wrote in the name of King Ahasuerus and sealed it with the king's ring and sent letters by courier on horseback, riding on royal horses that were bred from swift steeds.

A copy of the letter, that the decree should be given out in every province, was published to all the peoples, that the Jews should be ready for that day to avenge themselves on their enemies.

So the couriers who rode on royal horses went out, hastened and pressed on by the king's commandment.

Verse 11, the king granted the Jews who are in every city to gather themselves together and to defend their lives.

to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish all the power of the people and the province that would assault them, their little ones and women, and to plunder their possessions.

On one day in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus, on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar.

So basically the Jews were given permission to kill anybody who assaulted them on the 13th day of that month.

Oh, the Chisral.

As the second Adar.

The longest years.

This is one of the longest years.

Uh, it's three fifty-four pl-- yeah, it's probably three eighties.

A Shonomu Beres is what's called a leap year.

In Hebrew it's called a pregnant year because an additional month of Adar.

But in addition to that, there's another aspect.

So that's called in Chazal, it's called Shonot Mimah.

So it makes for a year that will have 385 days total.

Shin, Pei, He, as the maximum that you can have.

So the Shonamu Beres, which adds a whole month of Adar, plus the 230 days, makes it the longest possible year.

Can we look at this as a good omen that the coming year will be a great year because we have more days to accomplish our goals and more time for Hashem's blessings on Rosh Hashanah to manifest? Absolutely.
