What do you feel about the center position in Nick Allegretti and how you've come to him being the starter?

Yeah, we have a lot of confidence in Nick.

We have a lot of confidence in Matt Goldman, too, his backup.

And really...

Um, I was Nick, you know, obviously, yeah, I hear it, you know, because he was, he didn't practice for a long time, but we had confidence that he'd be back for week one.

He's been back the last couple of weeks.

He's practiced really well.

How excited should Commanders fans be about the passing offense, especially since you've got a new offensive coordinator and a healthy Jaden, at least now? So talk about Diggs and what you expect from him in that room.

So we kept asking, Adam Peters, What's up with this receiver room? Are you going to add somebody, or do you like them?

Just the way the guys have progressed, how much we've invested in that position in terms of draft capital.

I think we've invested a lot, and then our guys have done a really good job in the free agent market, too, bringing in some real good competition there.

So what it does is create great competition, and great competition, the cream will rise to the top.

So I'm confident that those guys will

But I was curious, as Adam Peters, an NFL GM, does his evaluations on players, how much of a role does social media play? When you're evaluating guys to maybe bring in for workouts, whatever, what role, if any, does kind of a player's social media have in that evaluation process?

I mean, we look at everything, JP.

I mean, it's a great question, but we do look at everything.

Don't worry, I'm not going to ask you for your crystal ball as such, but I'd be really keen to hear what some of the things are that you think are are likely to define the next few years when it comes to that relationship between asset managers and wealth managers that they are working in partnership with.

Yeah, and I think that phrase partnership gets banded around a lot, but it's really about what does it mean for us as a firm, but also what our clients are really needing.

And I guess the way I see the asset manager and wealth manager relationship developing over the next three to five years really falls into three categories.

The first one is really personalization and scale.

So clients are increasingly expecting portfolios and communications from their wealth manager to really reflect their individual goals and circumstances rather than a one size fits all approach.

And we've seen consolidation drive that competitive edge for wealth managers around the need to provide that personalization at scale.

The second is access to private and alternate asset classes.

Because there had to be some times early on when you're like, I don't know if I'm going to make it.

Yeah, there's definitely a lot of times where I wasn't going to make it.

One person that really helped me a lot, and she just retired a few weeks ago, was Nancy Meyer.

Every time I thought I wasn't going to make it or I was like, this is too much or whatever, I would talk to Nancy.

She'd talk me off the ledge.

I mean, she was she's a pillar there for 50 years and I wasn't the only one who she helped.

And she's just like an incredible person who did so many things there behind the scenes that really kept that place going.

So speak to your time working for John, who's obviously just a legendary football figure, but the confidence wise built from getting screamed at by Bill and Scott.

But like was there a specific moment may- maybe like, "I did this well," and someone said something? I, I don't know if they give out many compliments [laughs] back in New England, but were you just like, "Okay, I, I'm gonna make it"? Can you take me through in the draft room from four when you see that pick to five to six and kind of what the entire dynamic was like as you saw this guy maybe falling into your lap?

Yeah, it was really, cause you know, three was a little bit of a mystery, maybe for, for guys like me, not, not someone like you, Tom, who knows all that stuff much more than I do.

But, uh, four was, and we had kind of had an idea that Tate might go for, he's going to go probably somewhere from four to nine based on our research.

And then with five and six, when, when the trade happened really at six, that was, that was the wild card for, I think for everybody.

And the chiefs coming up and taking Delane, who's a, who's a great player in his own right.

But with that happening, that, that allowed Sonny to fall to us.

So we kind of, we felt really fortunate because we still had, you know, a handful of really good players that we could have picked from there.

What do you, as a general manager, as somebody who's in the building every day looking at these, what are you looking for to see if it's all coming together?

Right.

[clears throat] But then how that goes after that, I don't know, and it changes every week.

You know, if you, if you look at a mock draft this week, next week, the next week, it's gonna change.

So, um, uh, it'll probably get a little more clear as we get closer to the draft, and obviously we're still right in the middle of our draft meetings, so the more work you can put in, we still have a lot of touch points with the guys.

We have thirty visits coming in, so kinda get an understanding of the landscape and, and who these guys are even a little bit more.

But, um, yeah, it's a mystery to me right now, and, and so we just gotta be ready for anybody.

Is there ever any thought of, we don't want to tip people off about who we wanna bring in because nobody really knows what's gonna happen?

Yeah, I think there's, there's definitely a strategy to that in terms of how much time or, um, you know, how much work you put into certain guys.

... that you showcased on draft night that he showed up and said, "Hey, take the big guy from Oregon, okay? We need to protect him." You couple that alongside a trade that you make this off season with Tunsil, felt like, uh, was this a focal point for you? "We need to solidify the people in front of our superstar Jayden Daniels"? Or was this a situation where you couldn't believe he was available?

I think it was both really.

I think i- in the off season when, when we had the opportunity to get, uh, Tunsil, which, you know, it doesn't come around that often to get a, a, a blue chip left tackle, one of the best left tackles in the league, so we felt that was an opportunity that we didn't want to pass up.

And, and for the reasons you're talking about, like, we want to protect Jayden and, and really he's, he's the cornerstone of our franchise.

We want to make sure we're protecting him.

And then, so we got that done and then we really wanted Conerly.

And that, that letter was cool because, you know, Kliff, he wa- he's, he's a tireless worker.

Has he always been that way or do you think he's kinda changed along the way and now is the perfect time for him to be the head coach of your team?
