We've worked with him before.

This is the author of Undoctored and This Is Going to Hurt.

It's the one about the anatomy book for children.

I've forgotten the name.

I want to say it's called like Adam Kay's Not Marvelous Medicine, but like there's another one.

And he also has done books on engineering and he's done picture books for kids on digestion and viruses.

We hear a little bit about that.

He's done his own stuff and stuff with Adam Kay.

But it is as a stand up that I just think is extraordinary.

His new show, I saw it in Edinburgh, and I think it might have been the best thing I saw where he is drawing live children.

He wrote a book called, oh gosh, what is it called? This is Going to Hurt.

They are quite possibly correct.

I tell you this not to establish my credentials as such, but because Adam Kay's This Is Going To Hurt is a book about obstetrics and gynecology, alongside an unusually clearly documented decline in mental health, and reviewing it without naming where I'm reading it from would be a small dishonesty.

The specialty is in my blood, more or less literally.

The system K is describing is the one I currently work inside.

Aside from the fact that you're wasting my evenings and my unit's beds, it feels like fairly terrible business practice to be hospitalising your customers.

Adam Kay went to medical school at Imperial College London and qualified in 2004.

And there was one excellent book by a nurse called Language of Kindness.

Of course, there was a book by obstetrician or former obstetrician Adam Kay, This is Going to Hurt.

People were really interested in what was going on behind the scenes in the NHS.

And at the same time, you know, as I said, I've been practicing for four or five years and I was kind of looking around at how hard my colleagues were all working at this incredibly complex job.

And I genuinely considered, do I have the funds to go to London? But it was a kid's book signing, like for their children's book.

So I was like,

If I say I found a lump or something, I've just been through all this drama as a family, you know, losing one...

And I told Adam Kay, who is a friend of mine, he's not a doctor anymore.

He hasn't been a doctor for ages.
