Um, rather, what we wanted to do was to situate the Palestinian struggle where it belongs, which is, uh, as a transnational, anti-colonial, and anti-imperialist struggle rooted in the era of Third World internationalism.

And in Adam Hanieh's important contribution, he not only does that through highlighting how Israel is an impor-- uh, imperial outpost for Western capital in the region, therefore highlighting how and why the Palestinian struggle is deeply linked to the future of the region and vice versa, but also linking Israel's settler colonial project to global fossil capitalism, and hence the Palestinian struggle is also a climate struggle against global fossil capitalism.

And I think this is an important framing, um, which also other authors in the collection utilize, because on the one hand, it undertakes a material analysis of how Israel as a settler colony has been crucial to the maintenance of Western imperial interests, notably of the US in the North Africa and West Asia region, historically and today.

But also, on the other hand, it is a framing that has been developed through the history of Palestinian and global anti-colonial struggles.
