And I think it's really interesting to see on the streets how people are living, but more importantly than that, to try to sort of humanize them because they're just seen as pawns in a massive chessboard.

And I think Ada Ferrer, the historian, she's wonderful.

She wrote a book about Cuba that I think won the Pulitzer Prize a couple of years ago.

And she quotes Leo Tolstoy at the top of the book that says really the most important thing is to document the lives of the people in history, not just the historical stories themselves.

Is the Ada Ferrer, Ferrer, uh, Cuba's, uh, uh, Freedom's Mirror? Is that, is that the text you're, you're referring to?

No, it's, it's, it's just called Cuba.

There was this moment in which my mother is in Havana, near the port, with my brother and me, and there is a huge American ship.

That is Ada Ferrer.

Today, she's a renowned Cuban American historian and Pulitzer Prize-winning author.

But back then, she was just a baby in her mother's arms.

The ship would have dwarfed Ada, who was at that time just around five or six months old.
