Acts 19

wherein he has made us accepted in the Beloved, in whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of his grace, wherein he has abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence, having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to the good pleasure which he has purposed in himself." The mystery of his will essentially is Christ in us, the hope of glory.

That when we received the Holy Spirit, as we saw in Acts 19, that these men were, I'll say men, were devoted, that they'd been baptised, they'd heard at some, you know, because Ephesus is a long way from the River Jordan, they'd heard about the baptism of John, they were baptised, and their heart was right, but they hadn't really understood or been told about the expectation of receiving the Holy Spirit.

When they were told, as we read, they were immediately repentant in that sense.

They were sort of, look, tell us what we need to do.

You've gone from mortal to immortal in one moment of time.

when the Holy Ghost came upon you.

And what Paul is writing here is that he ceases not to give thanks for them, and he rejoices in the fact that their eyes are open to this, that there was a time in Acts 19 when they'd been baptized under John, thinking that that may have been enough.

But when they realized it wasn't enough, they rectified the situation.

The New Testament itself records the beginning of paganism's collapse.

In Acts 19, the silversmith Demetrius warned that Paul's preaching threatened the thriving industry built around the worship of Artemis because people were becoming convinced that gods made with hands are not gods.

The gospel wasn't simply winning converts.

It was dismantling an entire religious worldview.

Very quickly, I want us to open our Bible to the Book of Acts 19 as we continue with our series.

Last week, we talked about the consequence of living without God's power.

Uh, God's power is very, very important, and there are many platforms where God has packaged His power.

And no wonder we mentioned last week that Paul enjoyed miraculous, the miraculous, because Paul was a man filled with the Holy Ghost.

He enjoyed the miraculous.

In Acts 19:11, the Bible says, "And the Lord wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul." Look at that.

Because Paul was a man full of the Holy Ghost.

I believe it's going to speak to you this very moment.

And He said unto them, Have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed? Now, these were disciples of John.

And He said, they had been serving the Lord for many, many years, by the way.
