Follow-up tests performed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation found the exposed waste contained potentially hazardous heavy metals including lead, copper, nickel, and hexavalent chromium, a metallic element widely used in industrial applications.

According to the McKiernan's, outdoor test results showed the presence of semi-volatile chemicals consistent with wastes found at the nearby Love Canal containment site, including Dianbutylphthalate, Acetone, Chloroform, Fluoroanthine, 4,4-DD-E-bethalate, and Dianbutylphthalate chemical names.

Some pump tests revealed the presence of a wide range of heavy metals, organics related to Love Canal and other chemicals, including 4,4-DDD chloroform, alpha-BHC, delta-BHC, dieldrin, and gamma-BHC.
