Academy Award for Best Cinematography, Black-and-White

Uh, and it really, really fit well in other areas, so it was kinda weird, but it was interesting to have only that as the music through the whole thing.

It was nominated for three Academy Awards, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Black and White, and Best Film Editing.

It won Best Cinematography, Black and White, but... and I have to look to see when that was.

New York Times movie critic Bosley Crowther gave the film a mixed review, stating that the film, "for all the awesome hoopla it has received, is essentially a first-rate contrivance in the way of melodrama, and that's all.

It doesn't present any message it has on point of view.
