CEO of Bearish Sheet Magazine, independent journalist and researcher, and podcast host, Daniel Sharon, and ritual abuse survivor and advocate, social worker and lecturer, Yael Ariel.

A little bit about Daniel and Yael and their journey together in case you guys missed the first pivotal episode we did together, or if you guys just need a little recap.

In the ancient, storied heart of Jerusalem, where the weight of history presses against the soul of every inhabitant, a young man named Daniel Sharon came of age amid the vibrant pulse of a city that has witnessed empires rise and fall.

Guided by synchronicities and inspired by the bold voices of truth seekers, Daniel discovered his calling as CEO of Beresheet, Hebrew for Genesis, a magazine born as a defiant answer to the fear-driven narratives flooding mainstream media.

In a landscape choked by silence and control, Bereshit rose as a beacon for truth, free speech, and human rights.

In 2023, Daniel shattered barriers by publishing Israel's first major article on ritual abuse, a courageous act that ignited both fierce controversy and life-changing connection.

It was in this fearless pursuit that Daniel's path crossed with Yael's.

The pair reunited during the pandemic, collaborating on a song before developing a romance that turned into a four-year-long relationship and a seven-month marriage.

We've actually heard some heated conversations between Billy Ray and Fire Rose in the past, and they both described their relationship as A-B-U-S-E, and at least they're aware of this.

I've seen ads talking about A-B-U-S-E, right? About children or women.

Stuff that back in the day wouldn't even be able to be posted or be an ad at all.

Because it would be flagged as, okay, that's a crime or like it's just wrong, it's breaking the law, something like that.

I have also co-facilitated schema and complex trauma groups at a private psychiatric hospital.

But I'm currently really focusing on working with complex trauma and also with domestic abuse, narcissistic abuse, any kind of abuse in relationships.

And I have graduated from Monash University back when they still had the counseling psychology master's course.

I was the last year before they closed it down, unfortunately.

And it really is in some ways becoming more of a substitute for what we talk about as domestic violence.

Probably some of the issue with Domestic violence as a term is the word violence in it, which really presumes the idea of physical harm and physical injury.

And that's just not the case for a lot of domestic abuse.

There is no physical violence and coercive control really has been recognized as the underlying pattern of behavior that pretty much sits in all domestic violence cases.

They're so guilt-ridden.

They're like, how did we never notice this abuse? And how could we have stopped this? And Benson asks...
