Absolute Catwoman (2026)

Absolute Cassandra Cain, the long-awaited one-shot From Che Grayson, Matias Bergara, Mike Spicer, and Lucas Catoni.

So we got our first glimpse of Cassandra in Absolute Catwoman.

But we didn't know much about her.

And this issue exists to fill in those gaps and give us her origin story.

in between major arcs.

And I think this did a good job of doing two things.

It establishes who our villain is for the Absolute Catwoman book, or not villain, but our antagonist, outside of it being, ooh, look, it's Cassandra Cain.

Like, this is a version of Cassandra Cain.

This is my favorite book of the week.

Um, and after her introduction in Absolute Catwoman, it was like, that was, that was a great, you know, it was a great ending hook, right? And you're like, "Okay, how are we gonna do..." Yeah, so good.

Uh, and then for them to lead up with, uh, this one shot, which essentially is, like, her complete origin story.

Uh, this one shot, if you have any questions about, like, who this version of Cassandra Cain is.

And also it will recontextualize how you look at her in Absolute Catwoman, um, because that, that hook left a very certain impression-

uh all right up next catwoman number 91 from writer torn grunbeck daniello bay ruth on pencils joe prado on inks patricio belt del pesce on colors and then we have steve wands on letters so this is a tie-in for bad reads um it only came in at number 12 for me it's okay but i feel like Catwoman in the Torren Grumbeck era hasn't been the strongest of titles.

So to have what she's been doing interrupted really weakens a book that's already kind of on the weaker side for me anyway.

But that being said, I did appreciate that she still manages to get the relationship between Carmine Falcone and Selina in the forefront there.

No, I agree.

I still think it suffers tremendously from the art.

It just doesn't feel like Catwoman to me.

It's just none of the sexiness.

Pretty steamy stuff.

For absolute Batman and Catwoman.

The thing I think was interesting about Bane was how Bane took and actually formed Batman's rose gallery from his best friends.

That, I think, was the most interesting part of the story.

There was one part where one of the characters says, I hate kids.

Was that Catwoman? I can give them back.

I think it was Catwoman.

Yes, yes.

And Che Grayson is actually co-writing the Absolute Catwoman book with Snyder right now.

AF, we talked about this a couple weeks ago.

I can't remember if it was on pod or off pod, but I was asking you about Absolute Catwoman.

And I was saying, you know, not, not necessarily criticism, but just for me, I felt like I didn't get enough setup of her in the Absolute Batman run to real- You know, like, "Oh, oh, I have to pick up Absolute Catwoman." So tell me why I should be picking this up.

Well, I read Absolute Catwoman number three from Shea Grayson, Scott Snyder, and Bengal.

This is just the next chapter in the saga.

Catwoman and her crew, the Calico crew, you know, reluctantly team back up.

It's always the must-read as soon as you get home.

I haven't even read Absolute Catwoman yet.

That was just Wednesday.
