Abraham Curry

Nevada State Prison's story begins before Nevada itself became a state.

In 1858, Abraham Curry arrived in Eagle Valley and purchased land known as Eagle Ranch.

Natural warm springs were found there, and Curry established the Warm Springs Hotel.

But in December 1861, Nevada's territorial legislator met at the site.
