Abomination of desolation

Sounds like Damascus gets destroyed.

Now, is that prophecy that's already happened, been fulfilled, or is that something in the future that has an impact on everything you're talking about?

So I think earlier in the podcast here, you and I were talking, I think you're the one that made the point that I think that, you know, you and I like watching current events and we're plugging in names of places to Bible prophecy.

You know, we open ourselves up for criticism and ridicule.

Being destroyed.

But you're talking about the president of Syria and Damascus.

So, I mean, is that something that's already been fulfilled or is that something that is connected with what we're looking at today?

Yes, yes.

JESUS WAS A STUDENT OF THE BOOK OF DANIEL.

DANIEL CHAPTER 24 VERSE 15, WHEN YE THEREFORE SHALL SEE THE ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION SPOKEN OF BY DANIEL THE PROPHET, STAND IN THE HOLY PLACE, THE HOLY PLACE IS THE TEMPLE, WHOSO READETH, LET HIM UNDERSTAND.

I HOPE YOU'RE UNDERSTANDING.

UH, JESUS SAID, UH, THEN, UH, THERE'S GOING TO BE GREAT, UH, TRIBULATION.

Mike used to do that too.

I got to sit on some, um, rehearsals and stuff and it was really cool, you know, and, um, yeah, my favorite release, I know that was something we talked about and that that's definitely going to be abomination of desolation.

Um, Mike Browning and, um, Trey and Sterling's brainchild that was, That should have been the first release.

I know I didn't put out alters and I know because David got his way into the band and I'm not going to get into all that.

I will take that understanding back into the Old Testament.

And so when Matthew 24, Jesus speaking on the Mount of Olives says that, "When you see the abomination of desolation standing in the holy place, let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.

Let not the pregnant women," blah, blah, blah-

Sure

Then Luke 21, the synoptic passage in my opinion, um, it sounds like you, you might disagree that it's actually this area is synoptic.

Um, but also I believe on the Mount of Olives, and also, um, Luke is giving an account to the G- to the Greeks or the Gentiles.

So when Matthew uses abomination of desolation, that's a term the Jews, who are the audience that Matthew's writing to, would've understood immediately as referring to the prophecy of Daniel.

However, abomination of desolation means nothing to a Gentile audience-

An altar was built on the old sacrifice platform, and on the twenty-fifth of Kislev, a pig was offered there, the ultimate insult to those who kept the dietary laws.

The event became known among the people as the Abomination of Desolation, a phrase that captured both the horror and the deliberate insult of the act.

The enforcement of these orders reached even the smaller villages.

In the town of Modi'in, about fifteen miles northwest of Jerusalem, a Greek official arrived to supervise a sacrifice on a new pagan altar.

And we enter into the age of grace or the church age, which we're in right now.

And so the last week of years, the seven last years, are called the tribulation or the time of the abomination of desolation, as the Scriptures refers.

That's what we call the tribulation period, and that's what's going to be the next major event on God's timetable.

So in Daniel 9, verse 27, it's an interesting verse.

So I wanna read some verses to you.

Matthew 24, Jesus is referring to this in verse 15.

He says, when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet standing in the holy place.

So when you see the abomination of desolation standing in the holy place, The holy place is Jerusalem.
