so abbott elementary i remember just scrolling on tiktok one day and someone had put up a clip from abbott elementary and i'd never heard about at that point um this was probably what two years ago definitely early days um but yeah no i hadn't heard of at that point and i think i saw it was on like someone's laptop screen and i was just like it was one of the staff meeting scenes And I just looked in the comments to see what it was and it was Abbott Elementary.

Then cut to it dropping on Disney Plus the first season.

I then, being it the first season, became obsessed with the show and then have watched every episode since and love when new episodes drop on Disney Plus.

So my history is I remember when you started watching it and you're like, oh, my God, you love the show.

And then Kevin got wind of it and was like, we should watch the show.

Okay, I'm going to start with just a series.

So the nominees for Outstanding Comedy Series are Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Hacks, Margo's Got Money Troubles, Nobody Wants This, Only Murders in the Building, Shrinking, and Widow's Bay.

So Karen, what is your prediction to win

this? Can we do a will win, should win, could win?

In fact, I think I've seen every episode of all of these shows.

But yeah, so you've got a couple of... of shows that have been here a few times.

So you've got Abbott elementary, the bear, which the bear has won before hacks, which has won before.

Um, and this is the final season of hacks.

I'll just be wrong on that one because that's just going to be a big shock.

For Outstanding Comedy Series, we have Abbott Elementary, The Bear.

This would be last year's season, not the final season that we just got.

Hacks, fifth and final season, Margot's Got Money Troubles on Apple, Nobody Wants This on Netflix, Only Murders in the Building, Shrinking, and Widows Bay.

Jean Smart, of course, has been cleaning up in the lead actress category for this.

Maybe that's where the love will remain.

So I think this is much closer than drama is, you know? Abbott Elementary has really yet to break through in this category fully.

And of course, The Bear...

So Simon, here's the nominated programs.

You got Abbott Elementary, a show which gets nominated every year and will not win again this year.

You've got the bear where the heat is gone off this one.

And this is the other narrative that I think needs to be considered with the Emmys, which is that broadly, the Emmys love nominating the exact same programs and awarding the exact same programs year after

So that managed to come back after taking a bit of a break.

So we've got that.

So you've got in this one, Abbott Elementary, the bear, Hacks, Margo's Got Money Troubles, which I think is a very good program.

Again, I don't know that it's necessarily leading with its comedy.

But Abbott Elementary is hilarious.
