We'll go straight on to events and entertainment over the next couple of weeks.

This Friday and Saturday at 7.30 in Cook Studio, Abbey Road, Barrow, 67,000 Barrovians Can't Be Wrong is the title of a celebration of the town told through stories old and very new and shining a spotlight on everything that's so brilliant about Barrow.

And it's absolutely free.

Another free event on Saturday the 3rd of October from 11 till 3, the much-loved Apple Day returns to Ford Park, Ulverston.

The refurbishment proposal, which includes opening up the lobby and reception bar area, replacing the existing lift and refurbishing 41 bedrooms and bathrooms, have been approved.

The home of Barrow AFC is set to be renamed the Furnace Building Society Stadium as part of a new two-year partnership.

We've also reported on the future of the Nan Tate Centre on Abbey Road.

Members of Westmoreland and Furnace Council's Cabinet have now agreed that it should be added to a list of assets deemed surplus to current service needs.
