One of the other aspects of what Unrecovered War Casualties Army does is maintain an enormous stakeholder engagement process.

And the Korean war space is particularly heavy in this regard.

Defence has memoranda of understanding with our counterpart agencies in the Republic of Korea, but then also into the United States as well, which allows us to share information between our three organisations, specifically in the United States, for example, from cases specific to the Second World War in Korea.

We probably would have had some synergy there with Vietnam, but we've finally accounted for all our missing from Vietnam.

But certainly Second World War in Korea, specific with the United States and obviously the Korean War with the South Koreans.

We also have uh a really important role in maintaining a stakeholder relationship with the families of australia's uh korean war missing in action who for many years felt at the time on it sort of phrases they felt out in the cold they you know the korean war veterans as a whole sort of felt nested between the second world war and and vietnam they call it the forgotten war right yeah that's right um but more so the the families who were quite um There was a high degree of not knowing what had happened to a family member whilst there was this great sense of perceived disinterest in the Korean War in general.

But what happens? What's that process look like once you've found, like, wow, we found someone who's been missing for 70 years?
