A31 road

There is a handful of other incidents worth knowing.

Very briefly the New Forest fire which was on the A31 near the ring road ran six plus days, closed the road for weeks and involved 23 drivers abandoning vehicles on the carriageway.

There was another incident in Rannagid in Wales which burned through protected habitat, a special area of conservation known as a triple SI, a site of specific scientific interest in the UK Fire and Rescue Service and a national nature reserve and was called by the Welsh government minister one of the most significant wildfire incidents Wales has ever seen.

And the London Fire Brigade always busy.

So miraculously, on the north side of the A31 where I am now, the fire was contained to just this section alongside the A31.

Thankfully, all of this has remained untouched.

This is another short special for the podcast and to be honest this one is probably viewed visually better on my YouTube channel than just being listened to but this week I rode out into the New Forest to take a look at the aftermath of the wildfire that was started by a vehicle fire on the A31.

I rode out to the walking and cycling underpass that was directly at the epicentre of the blaze and explored both the north and south sides of the A31.

So that is the A31 just over there and just south of the A31 now.
