Additionally, we will talk about the third episode of Lanterns, Lego Star Wars The Mandalorian, Perfect Blue, the second season of Monster, and the My Adventures with Superman comic.

And we will talk about some news items, a trailer, and the comics countdown for the week of September 2nd.

So I was really glad to see a story that takes these classic tropes and applies them to the incredibly overlooked stories of the mostly lost Jewish communities in the rest of the Middle East and beyond.

Beautiful art by Carol Isaacs and a fascinating story.

But I had to give number one this week to Jared Cullum's Cody, A Place to Call Home.

Now, this is a graphic novel six years in the making, and I had not read the first volume

Well, it's

huge because it's got Hugo, it's got David Wenham, Georgie Parker, Catherine McClements, Heather Mitchell, who I loved in A Place to Call Home, beautifully filmed in Sydney.

It's a little six-episode series.

I would describe it, Secret Life of Us was a huge show here.

yeah i absolutely agree with that and and i'd like to point out that uh you know it used to be that um you know movies were the were the premier form of uh you know event or of entertainment one of the one of the the big forms of entertainment but look at where what's happened since the pandemic when we were all trapped inside with our tvs and suddenly we were consuming episodic television in a way that uh used to fill up our lives with movies So rather than going to see a two-hour movie, you know, my wife and I are currently completely caught up in this Australian drama called A Place to Call Home.

And it's this, you know, amazing emotional rollercoaster soap opera, brilliantly acted and written about a family living outside of Sydney in Australia.

And...

get into another world, get to know its people, think about it carefully, pursue it to the, pursue it to the end of the story.

And I think that that's another example of long form narrative.

It's in a visual format, but you know, it's not that different from reading chapters in a novel to watch episodes in a show like, um, uh, a place to call home.

So I, I think that it just points to the endurance of stories and storytelling as a very human endeavor and a human pursuit.
