A Night at the Roxbury

When do you think it reached a point where it wasn't simply a hit, but it sort of became a phenomenon?

Well, I think after A Night at the Roxbury and all the movies and all the commercials, then you started really recognizing that it was just not something that you got lucky with.

It became cult.

And I'm just always shocked of the new generation today, how the young generation today, they still come to my concerts and I'm flabbergasted all the time because...

You're better doing the interview.

That's that.

You mentioned A Night at the Roxbury before, and I must admit, I had to, like, have a look at it again yesterday when I was preparing.

And, I mean, it is brilliantly funny.

[laughs] TK Sooner, "Jeez, Darry, how'd you ever find a wife? You drive more women away than anyone I've ever met.

You're like a character in Night at the Roxbury." I think he's also referencing Sooner Lisa.

I don't have a good track record here.

It's clear.

You know what? I'm going to dip into, like...

One of my favorite bad movies of all time, A Night at the Roxbury, and go Hathaway, What is

Love? Good

pull.

He did have John Harris get the final out before Braxton Knight at the Roxby.

I always love the movie Knight at the Roxboro.

Five outs out of the bullpen.

Squirrels out of him.

Anderson.

Lonnie Anderson played the mom in a night at the Roxbury with Will Ferrell.

Okay.

Will Ferrell.

the greens of separation count with like spouses of people

no it does not i would have had yeah they are in the movie yes as long as

it was a night at the roxbury dan hediah was in commando yeah i'll

tell you when i made this game and i knew there would be a common link through all of them one i didn't think it'd be lonnie anderson and two the movie link i didn't think was gonna be a night at the roxbury yeah

There's very little dialogue in the sketches, and this song plays throughout, with the three men bobbing their heads in unison.

In 1998, the skit was extended to a full-length movie called A Night at the Roxbury.

The two regular performers in the skit and the movie were SNL cast members Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan.

The host of the show would often be their third man in the bits.

Wayne's World, Blues Brothers, original.

Wayne's World 2, Superstar, A Night at the Roxbury, then Coneheads, then Blues Brothers 2000, then The Ladies' Man, then MacGruber, then Stuart Saves His Family, and It's Pat.

The latter two really bombed.

It's Pat is the Julia Sweeney from Spokane movie.

It's

like Night at the Roxbury.

What if everything that's inside the club is on the sidewalk and the street is inside? It's fucking genius.

Hearing, like, hip-hop being in a school itself already, like, automatically just caught my eye.

Speaking of visual masterpieces.

Decided to jump into A Night at the Roxbury from 1998.

This will kick off our SNL month.

theme which we've wanted to do for a while so night of the roxbury starring will ferrell and chris katan and molly shannon um a bunch of other minor characters that i guess we'll get into rotten tomatoes 11 percent uh budget of 17 million made 30 million in the box office what are your guys's relationship with this movie andrew

Just two.

Do you think that was part of the joke? I guess so.

I'll day we'll defend a night at the Roxbury till the day he dies.

Yeah.
