A J Moir Stakes

Uh, Flemington Race Three, Scintillation.

Ran second, uh, in the, um, in the good stakes race behind Natural Fling, who I would've said franked that form by running third in the Moir Stakes at weight for age level, uh, last weekend.

Um, as I mentioned last weekend, I was glad to see Natural Fling go that way, not here to the cap d'hontees, 'cause that was the... that was, uh, on the cards there.

But, um, I thought running second w- might have sort of had a well and truly in the market.

potentially progress onto the Rupert Clark Stakes.

But time for the star performer of the weekend, and pretty easy this week to give it to the Grey, Mai Gladiola, for her first Group 1 victory in the Moyer Stakes there yesterday at Sandown.

Next is Extra Galactic, who tried to cut the corner.

Further back, Generosity, and then Bazzar Ball rewarded.

Great ride from Jamie Mott, getting the best out of Maya Gladiola late there, Nick.

And this was a much-deserved Group 1 victory for her.

We've seen her be competitive at the top from her days as a two-year-old.

Ollie, group one racing at Sandown.

The Moir Stakes obviously traditionally at Moonee Valley.

We're going to Sandown and, uh, I suppose that gives it a, a very different feel this year.

It does, Rog.

A beautiful late winter, early spring morning and some good jump outs there.

But the main one was the first jump out of the morning, a precursor really to the Moir Stakes, which will be taking place obviously next Saturday at Sandown.

We got to see- And also My Gladiola, who finished off that heat quite strongly.

So, uh, bodes well for what we've got to look forward to next Saturday.

Uh, so they were two of three trainers here this morning.

Mitch Freedman snuck a couple down from Ballarat, including Sky Bird, his Group One winner, who, uh, is gonna go to the Moir Stakes first up.

But, um, no, nice morning out here and yeah, the excitement's starting to build ahead of the Memsie Stakes, which is not too far away.

You can put so much into waiting, into ratings, and I had a little look at her, um, the previous two winning figures of the Moir Stakes and just sort of to see where she was at relative to the winning standard the past couple of years.

And if you convert Cavalry Girl's last two wins at weight for age, she's essentially run to the winning standard of the last two Moir Stakes in her last-

... differently this time as a genuine Moir Stakes contender, and Tom Dabney's just got them humming-

So she looks like a Group One filly in the making.

I hear she might be going to Moir Stakes, 1,000 meters, uh, and that could be right up her alley.

She might be very hard to catch in a race like that.

Of course, by Home Affairs, this, um, champion first season sire who, uh, really is doing a, a lovely job there for, for Coolmore and this filly bred, um, by the Australian Bloodstock team there at Yarraman, raised at Yarraman.
