7th Psychological Operations Group

Operation Wandering Soul wound down with American involvement in Vietnam, but its underlying tactic did not.

In 1980, at the Presidio of San Francisco, Colonel Paul Vallee, then commanding the 7th Psychological Operations Group, and his research chief, Major Michael Aquino, co-authored an unclassified paper called From PSYOP to Mind War – The Psychology of Victory.

Interesting side fact, Aquino was also the founder of the occultist or satanist sect Temple of Set, so the paper he co-authored came with a bit of weird baggage.

His cultish proclivities aside, Aquino did seem to know a thing or two about psychological warfare.

And, uh, Michael A. Aquino.

But you know me, who am I to tell people how to pronounce things? Um, then a colonel and commander of the 7th Psychological Operations Group tasked with Aquino with drafting a paper to propose, propose a shift from traditional propaganda to strategic mind influence.

Oh, that sounds so much worse.
