63rd (Royal Naval) Division

One up to the north, Spencer, around Beaumont Ammo, is going to be the 51st Highland Division.

And next to them, perhaps a little bit of a dark horse in terms of coming out as an elite unit, is the 63rd, the Royal Naval Division.

What a famous division.

A division that is making its Western Front debut here.

During the German invasion of Belgium and France, Winston Churchill has an idea that there's this pool of manpower in Britain, which is reservists primarily of Royal Naval ships, also with some Royal Marines who currently don't have any particular duties involved.

And when a call comes from Antwerp, from the Belgians who are besieged there for any kind of support, he has an idea.

What if we combine these reservists with this small group of Royal Marines and we create a Royal Naval Division? So these are sailors and marines who fight as infantry.

And they go out and they serve at Antwerp, heroically but ultimately unsuccessfully.
