52nd Street

You'll remember Hudson Yards from the first part of this docuseries, but now we visit something more modern, that is to say, older, the Seagram Building and Seagram Plaza.

All right, so George, where are we? Yeah, so we're between East 52nd and East 53rd Street in Midtown Manhattan, the cross of Park Avenue.

And we're currently sitting on the very cold stone at the side of the plaza of the Seagram building.

So this is I'll paint a picture for the listeners a little bit.

There, at the top.

Eugene Franklin Murdoch, prominent in New York literary circles, was found in an unconscious condition in an alley on East 52nd Street earlier this morning.

Johnny.

He died...

Now, since you're bound to get caught up in the conjuring anyway, you may as well make a wee toddy for yourself, settle in somewhere safe and familiar, and enjoy our tale of terror and suspense.

So I went to my office on Tuesday and I began to pray, and my prayer was this: "Lord, where do you want me to plant a satellite church in New York City?" Now, the options were there.

On 52nd Street there was a, a, a bank of six small theaters that weren't used on Sunday, so you've got six sanctuaries with screens already in them for use.

Uh, AXA Corporation was willing to give us their, their corporate boardroom, which seated 500 people and had all huge advanced technology in it, and, uh, they would've rented it to us for next to nothing because one of my board members was the former chairman of AXA.

So the, it was, it was easy to plant a satellite church, and the satellite church in the city would, would, would not even be a financial drain.

The lab crew arrived, Randy took off to dig up Blossom's friends, and I took a cab, that's item 480 cents, to the apartment of Elwood Blewett, Winkler's partner in the jewelry business.

Blewett lived alone in a modest but tastefully furnished five or six rooms on East 52nd Street.

great woman uh passed away but apparently she broke down in tears on the air yesterday uh talking about it and uh you know there's a very very close family and but then she said my mother would yell at me stop crying on the air and when she came back to work after a couple weeks she said i had to do it because my mother would be on get back to work Marion Scotto, she was a wonderful woman.

You know, they own the restaurant Fresco's on 52nd Street.

And if you ever went there and you walked in, there was that older woman sitting behind the front desk.

That was Marion Scotto, hands on, running the place and no longer with lived a nice, wonderful life, lived to be 90 years old.
