501(c)(3) organization

For those of y'all that don't know who she is, look up Second Chance Flight.

They have a website, full nonprofit, 501C3.

She's on Instagram.

She's on Facebook.

So they, like, join, they, they come together and they end up forming these friendships.

And then, like, over time they establish it as, like, you know, a 503B or so- or 5- is that the right ... 501C3.

Um, sorry, 503B is something else.

Uh, a- and that's where things start kind of coming apart.

We still on purpose don't take any taxpayer funding from the agencies we serve and that's intentional.

We're a nonprofit of 501C3, so we don't get – even though we arrive right alongside you and we look like we are part of you, which is what we want, and we're trusted, but we want to be sure that we're separate because – We want to be able to – because a lot of the stuff we do, if we started getting taxpayer funding, you can imagine they'd probably stop it.

And we just can't let that happen because dealing with people in their darkest moments, sometimes it's not all pretty and it doesn't just go in a little clean package.

And so we rely heavily on generous individuals, organizations.

There's not a lot of chances to leave early or take a day off here and there.

So I've been able to balance out working on the podcast, really taking the time to build that and to work on the 501C3 part of it, which is a lot of work.

A lot of people don't realize how much work it is to start a podcast, to start a business, to merge the two and try and make it work while still working a full-time and a part-time job.

So it's been a lot of balancing and some days are harder than others.

Yeah.

So Southwings is a nonprofit organization, 501C3.

And we, our mission is to protect and restore the ecosystems throughout the Southeast using flight.

So it's, we're kind of a support tool for the rest of the environmental movement.

I know you do.

Because I'm heading up to 501C3.

I really didn't come out getting involved in none of those campaigns.

Yeah.

That's length times weight.

And then, you know, when the Gator Fest got canceled, we decided to start the 501C3, and the name is actually the Marshmaster Roundup.

At the Gator Fest, since it started in 87, it was called the Alligator Roundup.

That's where all the alligators are brought in so people can see the alligators that people had harvested.
