Let me, let me back up here, 'cause, uh, you're saying, uh, 'cause I'm thinking, yeah, 454 Casull or a 45, you know, maybe a h- a hopped up .45 Colt, but you're saying a 45 ACP, like, like out of a 1911 or an HK or something.

Yes.

I mean, let's, let's remember, we're pushing 250 grain bullets at plus P velocities, which is close to 1,000 feet a second.

I've used it on my Taurus handguns, uh, my 44 mag, my 454 Su, my 377, uh, and even my 460.

And, uh, I've shot it using, of course, using Hornady ammo and, and, uh, And all those, particularly the .44 mag and the .454 Casull, I really like the 240 grain XTP custom loads.

Those are phenomenal in terms of accuracy and what they do downrange.

But what's interesting about that, and I'm going to come back to a rifle here in just a little bit, but what's interesting about those three-minute dots, that means that it... 100 yards, that dot covers 3 inches.

As soon as I finish the black bear hunt with that 10-point... uh, shooting several broadheads, uh, on the Choctaw.

I'm going to probably shoot some does with it while I'm there, but I'm also going to have my handguns with me because I, you know, I like hunt handguns.

So, uh, I'll have those and I'll have that combination along with my 454 Casull that wears a previous century, uh, TC 10.5 to, uh, seven long eye relief scope.

But, uh, You know, getting back to the red dot, last year I had the opportunity to hunt with my dear friend Randy Flannery up at Wilderness Escape Lodge up in Maine.

Right.

.454 Casull is better.

Bigger, better.

Yeah, no, probably not what you're thinking of.

It was actually a Freedom Arms 454 Casull, 'cause everybody needs one of those.

In my case, I've got two of those now, and it's...

Yeah, that's a big honking cartridge.

And what, what I've come to find after shooting everything over time is that nothing handles the recoil of the big cartridges better than a single-action revolver.

Why is that?

So when you're talking about the big guns, even your heavy .44 Magnums, your 454 Casulls on up, the leverage you can get on the grip frame on a single action just handles the recoil much better.

That recoil tends to kinda roll in your hand ver- twisting in your hand like a double-action revolver does.

A lot of gun play.

Uh, real quick for gun nuts, can anyone tell me, does .454 Casull come in auto, or is that just for revolvers? I thought it was just for revolvers, but it's, it's whatever.

Anyway, um, also, if his gun shoots exploding bullets, could he shoot through somebody to hit a vampire priest?

Yeah.

They're also useful for handgun hunting, and they are useful for bear defense if you wanna lug one around.

Um, I have a four fifty-four Casull.

Um, common ones of these would be your Ruger Redhawks and Super Redhawks, your Smith & Wesson Model 29s.

Yes, and I know that Dirty Harry was a cop that carried a forty-four Magnum, but newsflash, that's a movie.

Forty-four Magnum.

Oh, and there is the Colt Anaconda and the Colt Kodiaks and many others, but those are the big ones, right? But I'm gonna consider big bore revolver starting in the forty-four Magnum.

But forty-four Magnum, modern, not the ancient, but modern hot-loaded forty-five Colt, forty-four Magnum, four fifty-four Casull.

You could argue whether forty-one Magnum is a big bore or a, or a, uh, I don't know, a mid bore.
