3Shape

So the idea was I was going to create video training for every possible workflow.

And doctors would have sample cases and they would open up their 3Shape or ExaCAD and they'd learn the workflow.

And then they had some access to me with Teachable to be able to, I'm sorry, with Calendly to go over cases and things like that.

So it was a small group, like 20 doctors per proof of concept.

I mean, I know definitely you need to with iTero anyway.

Not iTero, sorry, 3Shape.

Do you? Rubbish, that one.

Right.

They get a one-year digital course as well.

So they are trained, and they all have access to 3Shape.

uh software so um from that standpoint having a small school is a benefit i think having a dean and some faculty my executive dean dr bennett he's 40 year old guy incredible dentist was in the service for six years i made him an executive dean my dean for post-grad is amy killeen a young periodontist So we've been very good at putting in leadership positions, people who are willing to move with technology, new materials.

I think it's a big benefit.

I was one of their technical support and trainers.

For 3Shape, right? Well, I actually left Whitmix to go to 3Shape.

You were

doing it

for Whitmix, but you were

doing 3Shape.

Yeah, because I know my first lab, we got everything from Whitmix.

I think a lot of labs did back in the day when they were kind of leaders in that.

My name is Sarah Spa and I work for a company called 3Shape that is in the digital dentistry.

And I work as a senior director in one of our R&D departments, which is primarily making software.

And two things primarily, I guess I also have a couple of kids that are finally getting to the age where they require a little bit less of me.

And, uh, we start- we all just started swapping ideas, exchanging different things.

And, uh, I remember one of our conversations, we actually had, uh, like a wa- it was, was it 2020? I think it was around 2020, something like that, where we were hopped on, uh, during like COVID lockdown or something like that, and, uh, we were sharing a trick, a 3Shape trick.

And you mentioned to me, you're like, "Oh, you know, I wish we could do all this, but I wish there was a way we could modify the intaglio of full arches." And then I just chimed in kind of nonchalant and I said, "Hey, well, why don't you just use copy denture?" I just-- I remember that light bulb moment [chuckles] in your eyes and you're like, "Huh, I'm gonna go try that," right? So I, I think that was kind of the, the mo- like the, the spark where you said, "Okay, maybe this guy has, uh, a little bit more to offer than just, just memes and, and, uh, random comments online," right? So I think that's maybe one of the moments where it caught your attention.

And I remember very shortly after that, uh, you posted up an ad online as well, and I think it was just kind of a spur of the moment.

And so I started as a, I guess, key opinion leader with Carestream.

And that morphed into some other areas of my journey, including working with 3Shape and Medit and implant companies.

And so now in this point of this journey, I've now worked with several companies, several laboratories to try to help them to get up to speed.

More recently with Glidewell as well.

Sometimes they get mad at me.

Like, oh, what are you doing with this file? I'm trying to grab the file off the computer.

As a matter of fact, Rune Fisker was very nice when he was at 3Shape.

He was kind enough because 3Shape wasn't letting me take the file.

but trying to do it on a more cost-effective...

How did you find and discover ExoCAD and how amazing it was? You said you started with 3Shape, but then you obviously moved to ExoCAD.

So what was it and what brought you

there? The beginning of that was I had linked up with a big lab in Glasgow where...

Yeah, yeah.

And then, yeah, they are just having a shot at night and thinking, oh, right, okay.

3Shape it was all I had ever known and I had worked on Blender for split bars so that was a learning process in itself so when I saw Exocad and I was watching how the workflow you know where you've got your case and you can go backwards forwards I was just like this is this is great so yeah I started to do some design work there with with full arch cases and diagnostics and implant planning and things.

So that was where it began and then I got the digital denture um so i got my own exocad and that had all the the digital denture stuff and because i was working with three shape prior to that with dentures um but yeah exocad it just made that so much easier it was it was bliss it was bliss when i started to work with that and actually I got involved more with ExoCAD, I was working with Christina.
