You've got to connect the LCD screen, you've got to put on the rubber feet, and then you've got to do the calibrations, which we did.

And then we printed the Benchy that was on the USB stick.

it didn't look good after the first few layers.

And what we figured out is it looked like the fan on the hot end wasn't running because as it got to the chimney of the Benchy, the whole chimney was like wobbling around like this because the filament was never getting cooled as it came out.

And I was like, that's just so bizarre.

Like it's a Benchy and it's pre-assembled, like everything's just meant to work.

So we mucked around with it for a bunch, re-sliced it, started printing, seemed fine, and then it would layer shift.

So layer shifting is when if you were just creating like a column, it's like you're going up the column and normally it shifts like a millimetre or something.

When you put them up next to the hair, the hair looks absolutely gigantic.

The hair does not fit inside the Benchy.

He does this in a surprisingly simple manner.

He claims that his rig costs about 300 bucks.

I kind of want to see if it's possible to scale it up.

I mean, with this kind of resolution, it might be possible to do some amazing things.

But at the same time, if this little grain of salt sized Benchy takes 10 minutes to print, it makes me wonder how many bazillion hours it would take to print anything macro scale.

And it actually did quite good prints and reproducibly.

And I remember the first Benchy that came off the Ultimaker going, oh, wow, that's amazing.

And there was that period through the latter half of the last decade where every time a new generation of printers came out, you saw new things on Benchy.

At the end of the last decade, there were things like the Creality Ender 3 and the Prusa Mini.

Now, my current hackerspace has two Prusa Minis as it's just workaday printers.
