I can go back 20 years.

I was on air in Sydney on 2UE the day that news flashed up.

I think it was a Friday afternoon that I could not believe it.

In the space of a week, we lost wildlife warrior Steve Irwin, killed by a stingray, and Brockie died in a shocking racing accident.

And then she'd be like, four, three, two, anyway, fuck.

He was quick off the mark and it was very entertaining.

Jones obviously had a background in sport.

And then they both ended up at 2UE when 2UE was top of the talk radio stations.

And then they both got poached to work at 2GB in 2002 when ad man John Singleton was an owner.

He, you know, audaciously poached both of them for 2GB, and it was an almost instant success, and it went on to, you know, top talk radio in Sydney.

What did Hadley say happened after that initial conversation, um, that took place in late 2019?

Hadley said he asked C if he wanted to talk to a journalist from the Sydney Morning Herald who was researching a story about Alan Jones, and C said, "Yes, but I wanna be anonymous and I just wanna, you know, give him background." So Hadley actually called Peter Fitzsimons, who's a Herald columnist, who used to actually work at 2UE, and he put him on the phone, and the two of them had a conversation in very general terms about what C had told Hadley had happened between him and Jones.

Um, Fitzsimons asked him if he wanted to go on the record or wanted to tell his story, and he said, "No, Alan Jones is too powerful, you know, I'm too afraid.

Well, Luke, I've just got a little piece here.

Luke Barnett, former Triple M host, 2GB, and then was with us on Nine for a little while at 2UE and was networked.

And he now does a podcast.

Seems everybody does a podcast.

But sort of he had a few people persuading him and he persuaded it and then it was a massive hit.

John Laws played it on 2UE at the time.

Remember how huge John Laws was? I remember

that vaguely.
