Paralympic Games Paris 2024

About three years ago, I had the honor of speaking at an event with President Bush.

It was the night before my 20th Alive Day, Little Leg's 20th birthday, and a few months before the Paris Paralympic Games, and I wrote a letter to the President that I would like to share with you today.

Mr.

President, tomorrow is 20 years since the day I lost my leg in Iraq, and it's amazing that they had been some of the best years of my life.

And especially for para sports that aren't in the games, it was even less so.

So myself and a couple of athletes right after the Paris Paralympics came together and said, you know, if the media is not going to cover these sports games, themselves i guess we have to do it which is obviously a lot of responsibility to fall upon athletes but it felt something we we needed to do to make a change and so it's been just about coming up on two years now and we have gotten to cover the milano cortina games we've worked with nbc team usa the international paralympic committee some other really cool content creators we've been trying to build up our library of editorial stories so doing written pieces as well we've consulted on documentaries.

And right now we're actually starting to try to get some consulting gigs related to the Los Angeles Paralympics and helping brands be able to tell that story of the parasite.

Well, because I think when the media or a brand does pick up on a Paralympic story or a inherent fault, they kind of come at it from a lens of this inspiration driven, somewhat feel good disability story.
