2009 Fort Hood shooting

He was also a doctor, a psychiatrist whose professional responsibility was to understand psychological distress and help service personnel cope with it.

The contradiction between that role and the violence he would later commit remains one of the most disturbing aspects of the Fort Hood massacre.

To understand the warning signs, we need to go back to the years before November 2009.

Not to suggest that every unusual opinion or troubling remark inevitably leads to violence, but to ask a more precise question.

[whooshing] You're watching "The Daniel Cohen Show" on the Real Life Network.

The United States Army is going to execute Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan by firing squad on December 3rd in Texas.

Now, some people are, some people are upset about the sentence that I just said, the by firing squad.

I'll just remind you quickly, everybody, the backstory.

I don't wanna use his name too much.

Um, but if you are my age, then the Fort Hood shooting is almost as real to you as, as 9/11.

S- it's sort of the same...

It occupies the same space.

Did you know that? A lot of you who are younger, my age is nodding their head all right, you don't know this because the media wouldn't report it.

It was horrible during the Obama years.

It was going on all over the place, and you can just look it up, but there was, I think, 49 attacks, um, and people died, like in the Fort Hood shooting.

Like, in that case, people died.

This isn't, it's not good for my brain."

Are you gonna watch that, uh, live stream of the Fort Hood shooter? The killing, execution of him?

Wow.

I just found out about this-

Of course, all this has just sent oil prices sharply higher.

The question we'll address later is, will Trump now join the Saudis in their war against the Houthi rebels coming up soon? And what to make of Trump's decision to live stream the execution of the convicted Fort Hood Shooter, is this an example of American soft power at play? Stay with us for that with my guests, Aaron Marte.

His new book is called Their Blood, Our Bullets, The Hidden Story of the U.S.-Russia War for Ukraine.

Aaron, great to be in touch again.

Okay.

Now, listen, we've got to change the subject and wrap things up in a completely different controversy.

I want to get your responses, both of you, to the Trump administration's proposal to live stream the execution of this convicted Fort Hood shooter.

John, what do you think's going on here?

We are going to live stream, because it's 2026, a public execution...

Of the Fort Hood shooter.

Now, I have a bunch of different stuff I can pull up about

this.

Mr.

President, do you, do you want the execution of the Fort Hood shooter to be live-streamed, and are you worried that the video would be used as propaganda to radicalize other terrorists?

Well, there'll be a determination about that, but he will be, uh, killed.

He will be, through firing squad.
