2000trees

No one's, no one's listened to these podcasts to the point that you're saying what's happening with fucking Trees, not Tangent.

And they, people are still coming on after two podcasts who listened to this and go, "James never said that." So just explicitly, plain English, tell people when they can expect their bands for ArcTangent and 2000 Trees.

Well, well, we do...

Um, I'm not gonna give you specific dates, only because I'll give you very close to specifics, only because they do tend to move when we suddenly find out we're clashing with Download or something.

This was it.

When we sold, I think when we last seen each other at 2000 Trees, I think we sold merch there that had the Let's Get Honkin' thing on it.

And afterwards, when we collected the merch, the merch guy was like, dude, your fucking t-shirt's great.

It's like Marmite.

They're an important band for me, and then Mark heard it on the podcast.

Mark, who's one of the Trees organizers, heard it on the podcast and told me he wanted to come too.

So we were like, "Okay, let's go." And, um, I don't want this to seem like...

I think it's interesting as to how this works behind the scenes that people probably don't know about in terms of guest list, and how guest list works, and like there's a lot goes on in the background which is you scratch my back, I'll scratch your back.

Right? So if, uh, the agent for one of your headline bands asks you for guest list for some person you've never heard of, if you're me at Arc Tangent or Trees, you just say yes.

So when, um, another promoter, Live Nation, Kilimanjaro, uh, THP, they all come to Trees.

There's different members of their team come to Trees.

Sometimes it's someone I don't know.

Um, now, despite wanting to do new events, we've got three events in a row here that we've done before.

Uh, we went back to 2000 Trees, and my God, it was warm.

And again, I make no apologies for saying it was warm.

We were meant to be at Ultra Croatia, but we'd decided, soft decided, that we were gonna do Ultra Miami in the next few years, which we might do.

So let's pull that, and let's just treat ourselves.

We'd had a boring time at Lytham.

Let's go to Trees.

We got a great relationship with Trees.

Yeah.

And then I didn't want to risk the potato envy that I got at 2000 Trees.

Yeah.

So, yeah, we both had a jacket sport and it was very good.

Oh,

yeah.

But also on the flip side, I had that issue more at 2000 Trees with people having umbrellas to keep out the sun in front of the station.

That was worse there.

So do you feel like damnation...

You know, when Trees finishes, I'm like, fuck, ATG's coming.

Does it feel like, right, I should probably think about damnation or is it not like that at all?

It's not quite as like that contrast.

We managed to sort of rationalise everything in our Arctic trailer.

And all the stuff...

We left Dark Tangent on time and all the stuff is now in the trailer to be taken to 2000 Trees in June.

So, yeah, it was good.

So on the Friday, we came in after a few dranky poos, of course.

And I was heading in to see one of my favorite old school bands, Life of... agony and they did not disappoint holy hell do they sound fucking amazing still my god his voice is insanely good we were all kind of looking at each other like wow he sounds incredible so yeah I was really good I love those songs so it was great it was like first band we squeezed in right in the side so we were probably four or five people from the front of the stage and that's a good thing about these small festivals this and Trees And Arctangent, actually, if you want to see a band and you want to get to the front, you can get to the front.

Which is why some, you know, don't get me wrong, I love a download and the grandeur of it.

But to be able to see some of your favourite bands so close is just a brilliant thing on why smaller festivals like this are so cool.

And once again, they did not disappoint.

And it's the first band, I think apart from Skindread, the only other band...

Yes, Skindred and The Scratch are the only two bands that I've seen at Trees, Bloodstock and Download.

um because bands like skindred and the scratch couldn't go between any of those festivals which is yeah a great thing musically because you know you yeah you can play trees you could play bloodstock you could play download don't matter you fit in wherever i think that's why the scratch is so genius because they could play reading and get away with it but they can play download and totally get away with it as well so

But those two were the, like on site, I was seeing those worn most that day.

That's interesting because out of the two festivals, I would have thought Arcane Roots would have had more of a fan base at 2000 Trees than Arctangent.

I wouldn't have thought they were quite in the mathy emo or in the post-metal heavy sphere.

I mean, I know it appeals to kind of everyone at Arctangent, but they're not quite in any of the core brackets.

yeah again and that's slightly odd because obviously they've been there for so long and part of the team obviously run 2000 trees so they must know what they order in to have those extra few thousand people that they always have at 2000 trees compared to our tangent so it seems strange that they didn't allow for that

Unless all of that was locked in before those final load of tickets were sold.

So, so James usually when he's doing anything fun, uh, at Up Tangent Trees, whatever, he says, "Come here, catch this band.

Meet beside it." So what was that like? An hour and a half drinking White Russians with Julie Christmas.

Um, the general store, um, over there, they, uh...

So the cool thing about them is they start, our gen- our last general store that was at the Trees and ATG stopped doing it, and we actually asked them if they would start a general store.

So they, they started a general store for us and, um, at 2000 Trees they sold 19,000 pounds worth of ice.
