2 Kings 7

We're dealing with a famine in the Old Testament, and so there are, um ...

We're gonna start our story, um, in 2 Kings 7.

And it was a famine caused by an army.

A siege.

Um, and so he besieges Syria.

So our story is in Ki- 2 Kings 7.

Um, but if we, if we just read 2 Kings 7:1-3, uh, 1-2, please.

It says, and we're reading from the English Standard version Bible.

It says, "But Elisha said, 'Hear the word of the Lord.

Turn it on.

If you meet me, meet me in 2 Kings 7.

And for the sake of time, I want you to write this down for Matthew 17.

We're going to begin eating in 2 Kings 7, and then we're going to nibble on something in Matthew 17.

I am so moved by the message today.

I couldn't wait to get to Sunday.

I feel like you're about to turn a page.

So I feel like my assignment this morning is to stir up the expectation that God is gonna thunder on your behalf and you're gonna have a mighty invasion of the Holy Spirit in your life.

I can only read verses 1 to 10 if you have a little bit of time there.

2 Kings 7 verse 1 and 10.

Then Elisha said, Hear the word of the Lord.

Hear what? Thus says the Lord, Tomorrow about this time.

Today, Pastor Colin's reflection is Four Responses to the Good News of Jesus Christ.

2 Kings 7 verse 9 says, This day is a day of good news.

Among us today, there will be four responses to the good news of Jesus Christ.

One, some will be like the captain.

Today, Pastor Colin's reflection is, The God Who Has Opened the Windows of Heaven.

2 Kings 7 verse 2 says, Then the captain on whose hand the king leaned said to the man of God, If the Lord himself should make windows in heaven, could this thing be? But he said, You shall see it with your own eyes, but you shall not eat of it.

There is a big difference between the king and his captain.

The king did not believe, but he was open to investigating.

Today, Pastor Colin's reflection is The King Who Doubted God's Word.

2 Kings 7 verse 12 says, The king rose in the night and said, The Syrians know that we are hungry.

Therefore they have gone out of the camp to hide, thinking, When they come out of the city we shall take them alive.

Just one day earlier, the king had heard the word of God from the prophet Elisha.

I'm conscious of the blessing.

Now look at the event that took place in 2 Kings 7.

Now Elisha, 2 Kings 7 from verse 1.

2 Kings 7 from verse 1.

Oh, thank you, Jesus.

And Elisha said, Here is the word of the Lord.
